Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 may have a classic Zombies mode, according to one leaker with a reliable track record. Zombies has become a hallmark of the CoD franchise since its debut in World at War, and the Black Ops series in particular has seen some of the most beloved versions of the multiplayer experience. As Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 gets closer to its release date, more details about its take on the mode are emerging, and longtime fans may have something to get excited about.
Activision’s shooter series has faced a mix of ups and downs over the past year. While Black Ops 6 was a massive financial success, it left some fans wanting more from the series, and now Black Ops 7 is the first CoD game not to top PlayStation pre-orders after its reveal. The game has somewhat fallen under the shadow of Battlefield 6, but some recently revealed details may help reignite the fanbase before the title’s November 2025 release.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Rumored to Get Standard and Classic Zombies Modes
Noteworthy Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope claimed on Twitter that Black Ops 7 would get two Zombies modes: a Standard version and a Classic one, called “Cursed.” The rumor comes on the heels of an official announcement in which Black Ops 7 revealed several Zombies details, including its playable characters and insight into its story. An expanded cast of characters emphasizes how much the mode has changed over the years, but TheGhostofHope claims Activision is giving fans a chance to relive the old days, too. Cursed mode will have no mini-map, no armor, and no exfil, removing several additions Call of Duty has brought to the mode over the past several entries.
On top of removing some newer features, Cursed Mode will limit perks to four, give players a pistol to start, use the classic points system, and have separate wallbuys and weapons from Standard Mode. The leaker mentioned in the replies that Cursed could have other differences, too, but these are all they know about for now. While there’s no official confirmation of the classic mode yet, Activision has confirmed that Black Ops 7 will see the return of Dead Ops Arcade, so it does seem like devs are trying to balance new features with nostalgia in the upcoming title.
It may not take long for fans to learn more about Zombies and its potential classic version. Activision is hosting a Call of Duty NEXT event on September 30, which will offer more information about what to expect from Black Ops 7. For now, Cursed Mode and its supposed details are just rumors, but TheGhostOfHope has made accurate predictions in the past, and players will know more shortly.
